Meet Holt’s newest school board member, Jennifer Robel . Robel was appointed to the seat vacated by the resignation of Doug Needham. She is a graduate of Carson City-Crystal High School and obtained a bachelors degree from Alma College. Jennifer and her husband, Craig, live in Holt and their two children attend Holt Public Schools. Outside of serving our learning community, Robel is a department manager in the Office of Educator Excellence at the Michigan Department of Education. She enjoys triathlons, coaching, watching her children play sports and other activities, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
Will Berti is the new assistant principal at Holt High School, taking over for Chris Billingslea, who accepted a position at Dimondale Elementary. Berti, a former teacher, grew up in metro Detroit and went to Michigan State University, where he met his wife. After getting married, the couple moved to the Chicago area. He taught in South Bend, Indiana while his wife attended school in Chicago. They moved back to the Lansing area four years ago.
Berti is excited about his new position. “I took advantage of this opportunity to be an assistant principal because of my desire to have more impact on the student body at Holt,” he said. “I’m hopeful that my experience in the classroom over the past seven years can support teachers and students.”
Berti and his wife are celebrating the birth of their first child, Natalie Grace, and look forward to her being a Holt Ram! They enjoy ice cream at Sweet Sensations, shopping at the local Kroger store, and eating at the Delhi Café.
