From The Superintendent – Fall 2018

Welcome to Holt Public Schools! It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I write the tenth of what I hope will be many Ram Quarterly (RQ) welcome letters to you and our exceptional community! For those who are just joining the Holt Public Family, I would like to sincerely welcome you to our district. We are here to serve you and hope that you will soon feel our district pride and our attitude of gratitude!

This is our sixth edition of the nearly exclusively online RQ. We are aware that some of you wish to read a paper copy of our publication. Limited quantities of the RQ can be accessed throughout the district, and you can also access more information on a daily basis by connecting with us via social media. See page 8 for locations and social media sites.

In an effort to keep all school families informed, we have established a comprehensive communication plan including a weekly email called the Peek at the Week. The email, added to Skyward during the enrollment process, will be used to share important information. If you are not receiving the Peek at the Week, please review Skyward for accuracy. If you do not have children in our system and would like to receive the weekly email, please send a message to SuptOfc@hpsk12.net with the word “Peek” in the subject line. We aim to reduce the amount of information shared each week and plan to continue to send a video highlight of the Peek at the Week and post a copy on our website!

You may be aware that we are returning to a pre-Labor Day start to the school year for our traditional calendar schools again this fall. Our balanced calendar schools, Horizon and Sycamore, will continue to start in early August (they started on August 1, 2018). Our remaining schools will start on August 22, 2018. Please plan accordingly. As a result of our pre-Labor Day start, we will be adding two breaks to the school calendar for our traditional calendar schools. For the next two years, our traditional calendar schools will include an October fall break and a February mid-winter break. You can find the entire school calendar on our website.

The work that occurs daily across the district is inspiring. I am honored to serve you and embrace the opportunity to celebrate the past and continue to inspire the future of Holt Public Schools.

District Pride, Community Wide!
